EASTER BREAK! I’m loving it. Just chilling at home…waking up 3 hours later than usual…sweet relief.
Recently I bought the Anne of Green Gables trilogy on dvd from Fry’s. I begged J to watch with me, and we began to watch after work daily, hours at a time. Such a heartfelt series. The third one isn’t very good, and wasn’t based on the books. I then found a couple of the books in my own classroom library. For Easter break I have been reading them, sometimes late at night with a booklight.
Reading these makes me long for a simpler life – with more natural interactions with people. Anne spent a lot of time visiting with friends, knitting, and enjoying her family. For the five years I have been in SF, I have not made an effort to make connections outside of my apartment. Since our Baylight retreat, I have been thinking a lot more about just getting to know people around me. J and I have finally introduced ourselves to some of the neighbors. We are trying to go to local businesses (check out Nani’s coffeeshop on Geary), and taking ourselves out of isolation.
On another note, God has really been reminding me of my need for the blood of Jesus to cover me. God brought up these song lyrics from dcTalk’s “In the Light”, which I have been stewing in:
The disease of self runs through my blood, it’s a cancer fatal to my soul
Every attempt on my behalf has failed to bring this sickness under control.
Praise God for sending His Son to die for my selfish transgressions, so that I might be saved. He is good.

Summer is winding down. I realize that I am blessed to have time to just be stil in the summer. Most working-folks continue to press on throughout the year. It’s nice to have time that is quiet.
Since Vancouver, most of my free weekdays have been spent at cafes, prepping for school for hours at a time. I love having the quiet space to brainstorm and organize and plan for my second year of grade 5. God has been providing me with random ideas. He has used summer for refreshment and restoration. I feel much healthier going in to this year. Praise the LORD!
Shout out to my awesome pastor Mike! Going over old notes from Genesis have really brought me face to face with the reality of what kind of God we have. I’m eager to bring these ideas to school and to allow the new class of 5th graders to know more of God’s truth. Check out my church: http://www.baylightchurch.org.
Here’s me and J at a family dinner! He’s a good and supportive hubs!
