An attempt at growing veggies…

In October, a bunch of friends came over to help us dig up our backyard. We now have two plots, about 5 feet wide, and 20 feet long.
After all that digging (thanks so much to those who put in the time and muscle), we planted the seeds: kale, chard, leeks, carrots, beets, fava beans, broccoli, turnips, radishes, and peas. It’s been about a month, and we are still waiting to see some little plants sprouting up. What we have seen are lots of weeds. If we were trying to grow clovers, we would be thrilled, because there are TONS. Can someone safely eat clovers? Too far?
I went outside yesterday to do some weeding. For weeks, we’ve only seen growth in the radishes. But during my weeding, I found that the fava bean plants are also growing! YAY! While I was out there, I had time to think about how we hadn’t seen the fava bean plants because of all the weeds. Kind of makes for a good life analogy. When our lives are cluttered up, maybe we don’t have space or time to see the good things.
